There are thousands of domain registration and hosting options available out there. Sicaweb provides a high-quality low-cost option. Check it out on our pricing page.

What to Look For in Hosting

  • Storage Size A typical static website is less than 10MB, so don't waste your money on several GB of storage.
  • Software Try to find a hosting company that provides the latest software versions available. Outdated software is a key indicator that the company doesn't care much about how your site runs on their server.
  • Operating System Don't be turned off by a Linux server if you are used to Windows, and visa versa. The control panels that hosting companies offer for different operating systems are virtually identical, and the user experience is exactly identical. Windows usually costs more, so make sure you need the features Windows servers have to offer before signing up.
  • Up Time 3 9's is key. That means the hosting company guarantees the server will be up and running 99.9% of the time.
  • Support Make sure the company has a "submit a ticket" program and phone support.
Our favorite hosting company is HostNexus, which this site and several Sicaweb clients use.

What to Look For in Domain Registration

  • Cost Domain Registration can cost between $5 and $40 per domain name. But in the end it's all the same, so go cheap.
  • User Interface Once you have your domain set up, you may not ever need to touch it again, but it's nice to have an easy to use intuitive user interface just in case.
